Julie Garner Scruggs
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
"I am honored to step into the role of Executive Director for A Secret
Safe Place to continue the groundbreaking work that has already been done
to end unsafe newborn abandonment. The work of educating Tennesseans and
informing women of their options under the Safe Haven Law is a work I am
committed to going to the frontlines for, and I am excited to have this
opportunity which I consider life giving."
Taylore Sanzo
ADVOCACY COORDINATOR
“This organization does so much meaningful work. While we are very much in
the business of ending newborn abandonment, we also work very hard to ensure mothers across the state know and understand their rights and protections under the Safe Haven Law. The moments of despair that these young women experience do not have to lead to ending the life of an innocent newborn as well as their own. Our mission is never finished, and I’m honored to be a part of it."
Becky Brady
FACILITIES COORDINATOR ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGER
“I love being able to be a part of such an important organization and to have the privilege to work with so many amazing and passionate people. We have the opportunity to make the difference in the lives of families, mothers, and babies across the state of Tennessee, and I’m grateful to be a part of it.”
Emily Headrick
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR
"I am so grateful for the opportunity to work for A Secret Safe Place for Newborns of Tennessee. I love that I get to be a small part of the mission to end newborn abandonment. Being a mother myself, nothing is more important than educating women and facilities across the state about Tennessee's Safe Haven Law. I love getting to work alongside a team of passionate individuals that care deeply about the safety of newborns, mothers, and families across Tennessee."
Lori McCarty
REGIONAL SPEAKER
"After resigning from a 15-year career with the federal government, I felt called to invest my time and skills in work that truly makes a difference—work rooted in purpose and mission. Through one of my closest friends, Becky Brady, who serves with SSPTN, I was introduced to their new task force initiative in 2025, and it quickly felt like the right fit.
With a master’s degree in education and counseling, I am deeply passionate about equipping others, educating communities, and spreading awareness. In my role as Regional Speaker, I am honored to be part of this life-changing mission and firmly believe that knowledge is power—and education is the key to lasting impact."
Paloma Stansell
